A social media campaign was triumphed by the students in solidarity of their acting Vice Chancellor with explicit hash tags like "#release_our_vc, #leave_the_saint, #probe_omole and many more.

It's in this aura that a Senate meeting was called with a view to discussing issues relating to security, peace and order in the university community. The meeting, which was held on the 16th of December made the position of the Senate on the invitation of the acting Vice chancellor by the EFCC on the payment of the productivity bonus and the misappropriation allegations known.

It was resolved in the meeting that it's necessary to pay three hundred thousand naira (#300,000) and one hundred and fifty thousand naira (#150,000) as allowance to senior staffs and junior staff respectively, citing the example of the same amount being paid in other Universities. Added that it's necessary for the pursuit of a peaceful and orderly University campus.

Moreso, that the payment of the alleged furniture was constitutionally approved by the governing council of the University at a meeting held on 9th to 10th of May 2013 without any provision for payment pro-rata.
Also, with reference to a dated letter by the government on the appointment of an Acting vice chancellor, stating that the office is entitled to terms and conditions of office including remuneration and fringe benefits, as stated by the government for the office of Vice Chancellor of Federal Universities .
