The cry for Justice : OAU lecturers keep assaulting, and threatening students
The cry for Justice : OAU lecturers keep assaulting, and threatening students.
OAU students get victimized by lecturers both physically and psychologically.
Just when the students are dealing with the saga of Dr Adelodun in Faculty of Education who recently assaulted a student, John, a part one student who was allegedly accused to have committed malpractice during an EDU 101 test, a novel narrative surfaces in department of Zoology when a Dr Komolafe and his P.G student both transfered slaps on the soft cheeks of two students in booc lecture theatre yesterday.
The saga of Dr Adelodun and his assault on John as reported by students in the class at the time of occurrence elucidates that John was caught to have brought the material for the course, EDU 101 to the class which he took out after the duration of the test while Dr Adelodun, the course coordinator was collecting the answer sheets from other students. John was caught doing this and was accused to have committed text malpractice by the lecturer which he denied profusely. His denial led to Dr Adelodun threatening John of failure which he also strongly rejected. As gathered, the denial of John to have cheated and his rejection of failure warranted a hot slap on his face by Dr Adelodun.
Just yesterday, 19th of October 2016 ,Dr Komolafe with a Post graduate student as gathered by Oau Kilonshele also assaulted two students in his class in Booc lecture theatre. As at the time of this report, the offence of these students are unknown but reports have it that after Dr Komolafe ordered the students to kneel down in front of the class and exercised his slapping skills on their faces and was happily assisted by his post graduate student in unjustly assaulting the offended students.
As a reminder, the case of Dr Ogunkunle in Chemistry department who turned a student last semester to a punching bag for an unjust reason is still as novel as Dr Komolafe's assault as no justice was done on the student's behalf.
In Obafemi Awolowo University today, students are not only being assaulted by lecturers physically but also being threatened of failure at any point when they (students) seek for any academic irregularity to be addressed. Just recently a final year English student was threatened of hindrance of graduation by a History lecturer who claims to have friends in English department when the alleged student went to complain about the evidence of irregularity in his recently released History course result. This is obvious to have caused a psychological oppression on the part of the student as he fears of such threat coming to past.
This report is not to bother about the offences of the above students but to question the deluded power or right of Lecturers to assault students whenever they want to. There are rational disciplinary measures that can be executed to indict any offended student as dictated by the school laws and not the barbaric act of turning students to "punching bags".
Great Ife students cry for justice, ASUU to check their Lecturers as students now go to class with fear of not being caught in the tyrannical web of Lecturers. The above named Lecturers should be called for correction.
