Ọmọlúàbí Night: OAU Kilonshele, reporters clinch four awards

Lawal Olanrewaju   OAU Kilonshele clinched the best News Agency (Online Category) at the  Ọmọlúàbí dinner, handover, and awards ceremony night  of the Association of Campus Journalists' (ACJOAU).  The atmosphere was filled with anticipation as members gathered to witness the transition of leadership and celebrate the accomplishments of the outgoing team. The electrifying night was a mix of emotion and empathic disposition by the erstwhile Gbolahan Latinwo, who served as the 51st President of the association 2022/2023 handed over to the newly elected President of the association, Olabode Obafemi, who will serve as the 52nd substantive President of the association along with his team cum next session. Latinwo, in his endearing speech, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the executive team for their dedication and hard work throughout his tenure. How Students Were Forced To Shut Down the Computer Systems at CBT Despite Having Minutes left for The Exam

A Faculty course, CVE 202 titled Strength of Materials , a core course for most Part 2 Engineering students in the Faculty of Technology, excluding those in Food Science and Electrical and Electronics Engineering that held on Friday 19th July 2024, examination that was scheduled to start at 8am at University ICT centre. It was gathered that an information was passed by the coordinator who also doubles as the Head of Department of Civil Engineering in the night of July 18th that students must not come with calculator. Few weeks before the exam, the coordinator before informed the students that the exam will be CBT and the exam is an hour and it is 30 questions. Students offering course complained bitterly about non-use of calculator to newly elected Students Union President, Dr Bush. On the day of exam, students converge at the ICT centre for the exam (ICT) to take the exam but some students with calculator were denied access to enter into the exam hall, while those not with calculator

The Rising Tide of Car Theft and Break-ins: Parakin Residents Ululated

Lawal Olanrewaju The recent surge in car thefts and break-ins in Parakin, a highbrow neighborhood in Ile-Ife, Osun State has left residents and shop owners in a state of heightened anxiety and insecurity. This alarming trend has also disrupted the daily lives of many, raising concerns about the effectiveness of local security measures. In the last month, specifically on the 29th June, a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) belonging to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) was parked in front of a professor’s house, and was audaciously stolen. Worse enough, this incident occurred exactly a month after a shop owner and landlord’s Toyota Camry (Big Daddy) was stolen as the man was refilling a gas cylinder.  With the occurrences, it is easy to deduct that the rapid succession of these crimes has underscored the growing threat faced by the community.
