The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has extended financial relief to disengaged staff members of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife. Addressing the aggrieved individuals who gathered at his Palace on Monday, Ooni Ogunwusi announced a donation of N10 million alongside 1,000 bags of rice.

Expressing empathy towards the disengaged workers, the monarch assured them of his commitment to addressing the crisis, stating, "It is your right to fight and agitate because injustice has been done to you all, but I want you to apply wisdom to achieve beneficial results."
Emphasizing his dedication to resolving the issue, he pledged the support of both himself and the ancient throne of Oduduwa, declaring, "I am dedicating myself and the ancient throne of Oduduwa to fight this fight to a logical conclusion."

Ooni Ogunwusi commended the demonstrators for upholding the core Omoluabi ethos and allowing hospital operations to resume upon receiving his message. He also assured them of continued support beyond the OAUTHC, urging them to leverage his assistance to pursue their aspirations in life.

In response, Samson Falope, speaking on behalf of the disengaged workers, expressed gratitude for the Ooni's intervention, praising his fatherly role in addressing their plight. Falope recounted the challenges faced by the workers, including the sudden disengagement of over 1,500 employees by hospital management, some of whom had served for up to 15 months without pay.
He detailed the workers' efforts to seek redress through peaceful protest at the hospital complex, highlighting their desperation following months of unpaid labor. Despite undergoing recruitment and verification processes, including orientation programs and issuance of appointment letters, the workers were abruptly dismissed, leaving them in financial distress and unable to support their families.

Conclusively, Falope appreciated the Ooni for his timely intervention, expressing hope for a resolution to their plight and the restoration of their livelihoods.
