ASUU OAU Chairman Maintains Silence On Chapter's Decision

As the lingering strike action embarked upon by the Academic Union of Nigerian Universities, ASUU gravitates towards eight months while its National body recently assures "light at the end of the tunnel" after a meeting with the Speaker House of Representative, Femi Gbajabiamila, ongoing is a rumor of meetings held at various ASUU branches of Nigerian Universities which is aimed at gathering votes on either to stop or roll on the strike.


OAU KILONSHELE in a telephone conversation with ASUU Chairman OAU chapter, Dr. Adeola Egbedokun to confirm his chapter's position "you'll get to know of our decision soon" he maintains silence.


The latest report has it that Federal Government will modify the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System to accommodate the peculiarities of the University Transparency Accountability System, a payroll system developed by the Academic Staff Union of Universities for the payment of salaries and allowances of University lecturers and the Universities Peculiar Personnel Payroll System developed by The Joint Action Committee of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities.


The National Executive Council of ASUU will meet on Thursday to take a formal stance on the eight-month-old strike, a confirmed source revealed.
