[Video] AFRIKA: Watch OAU Spoken Word Performance In Commemoration Of July 10

The poem title 'Afrika' is an outstanding spoken word performance by M. Y. Alli in the 23rd commemoration of July 10, 1999, fatal cult attack in the OAU community that claimed the lives of 5 students and rendered several others injured. The event was held on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 at Ajose Lecture Theater, OAU.

About the Poet:

Memunat Alli, popularly known as M. Y Alli is a Nigerian youth from Ibadan, Oyo State. She's a performance poet, spoken word artist, writer, content marketer, and community builder. She's passionate about personal development, humanity and Storytelling, marketing, and community development.


Memunat is the first inaugural Poet of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Due to her passion for community development and volunteering, she got a community award in 2021 as the most active volunteer of the year at the Slum and Rural Health Initiative, Osun state chapter.


She has performed at several events and her poems are centered on hopes, dreams, growth, humanity, life, and everything in between. 


She's a 400L student in the Department of Animal Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, OAU.
