The lecture free week, preceeding the rain semester examination of the students of Obafemi Awolowo University, starts today.

However some students have tests fixed for this week and that's against the university rules as all academic activities are meant to end on the last day of lectures.

As confirmed by OAU KILONSHELE in an interview with students, many of those who fall into this category, complained of the  limited time available for the preparation towards the examinations.

Abayomi Oladele, a final year student of the department of Mechanical engineering, told our correspondent about the Five looming tests that he'll be writing this week.

The final year student complained that the school is trying to balance the calendar at the detriment of the students' results.
"Many people will fail this semester." he said.

Also, Okeya Sunday, a 200 level student of English department,  lamented that about four of his tests that have been fixed for this week. He added that these tests are for core courses that need much attention and preparation.

"Except for Wednesday and Thursday, every other day has been fixed for a test. I'm tired of the school" he lamented.

Meanwhile, a lecturer of the University, who sought anonymity, explained that the school management wants this academic session to end as soon as possible even though the Non Teaching staff unions are on strike.

"Most of us had to rush through the limited time available for lectures." he stated.

He buttressed that, the unavailability of venues also hindered the conducting of some tests before the lecture free week.
