Following a release disseminated in the late evening hours of Sunday summoning for a "special congress" in the early hours of Monday, the suspended Speaker of the Great Ife Students' Representative Council, Ajadi Toheeb has been reinstated.
The congress notification signed by the Clerk, Odetunde Dickson was accosted by a petition which was claimed to be signed by half of the members of the Great Ife SRC but failed to be assented by the Acting Speaker of the Union Students' parliament.
"Sequel to a petition duly signed by half of the members of the SRC and in accordance with the provision of ARTICLE II, Section 6(4). In fulfilling that Constitutional provision which states that a Congress must be called within 24hrs and considering the failure of the Ag. Speaker to acknowledge the Petition and the signature, I hereby announce a Special Congress of Great Ife Students for 11 Am tomorrow at the Amphitheatre where the issue of the suspension of Ajadi Toheeb as Speaker, Great Ife Students' Union SRC shall be revisited since over 6 months." The notification stated.
The Congress witnessed by our correspondent was presided over by a fellow honorable member of the Great Ife SRC with OAU security men in presence and a peaceful March in aluta chorus to the Students' Union building after the declared reinstatement of the suspended Speaker.
