Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Raises Motion to Address Employment Termination Crisis at OAUTHC

On Tuesday's session at the House of Representatives, the Honourable representing the people of Ife Federal Constituency, Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro, spearheaded a motion addressing the distressing situation surrounding the abrupt termination of employment for recently hired staff at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC).
The motion shed light on the circumstances under which these individuals were sacked, raising concerns about fairness, procedural transparency, and the significant impact on the affected employees and their families.
Members of the HOR engaged in a robust discussion, expressing solidarity with the affected workers and advocating for a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The motion emphasized the importance of upholding labour rights and ensuring due process in employment matters across all sectors.
Furthermore, the motion called upon the Federal Government of Nigeria and other relevant authorities to promptly intervene, address the grievances of the affected staff, and implement measures to prevent such occurrences from happening again.
The motion received widespread support from members of the House, reflecting a unified stance on the importance of protecting the rights and welfare of all workers within the country. This matter of public importance has been referred to the House Committee on Health, with a mandate to report within two weeks from today.
