Court jails two OAU Students, four others in Osun, Oyo

The Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic Financial Crime Commission had convicted and Sentenced two Undergraduate students of Obafemi Awolowo University, to jail term for Internet Fraudulent activities.
EFCC disclosed this on Tuesday on its X Handle. According to the statement released by the Enforcement agency, Gbolahan Adesina and Perekebena Micah, Undergraduates of Obafemi Awolowo University were pronounced guilty of a one-count charge.
Recall that, On November 6th, 2023, 11 OAU Students were arraigned for engaging in Internet Fraudulent activities. Two of the students, Micah and Gbolahan pleaded not guilty to the charges, after which the Cases were adjourned. Consequently, after a re-arraignment on Tuesday, February 13th, they plead guilty to the amended charges read to them.
The judge, Justice Ayo Emmanuel after listening to counsels therefore convicted and sentenced the two OAU Students, Gbolahan and Micah to one year of imprisonment without an option of fine.
Others who were arraigned alongside the two OAU Students include Sholagbade Olanrewaju, Qudus Baba, Akinpelu Opeyemi, and John Adeyemo, who were arraigned before Justices O. A. Adetujoye and S. O. Adeyemi of the Oyo State High Court. These four plead guilty to a one-count charge filed against them by the EFCC.
The Statement released by EFCC stated that the four bagged two weeks of community service each.
The statement further stated that the convicts are to restitute other victims and forfeit the items recovered from them to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
