Tension escalated at the Adekunle Fajuyi Hall of Residence, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, following an alleged assault on a student by members of the Man O'War security corps. In response, the hall executives have taken the drastic measure of sealing off the Man O'War Secretariat until further notice.

The incident occurred in the late hours of Thursday, May 2nd, when a student, whose identity has not been disclosed, was caught attempting to defecate in an open space near the Man O'War base. OAU Kilonshele gathered that the student was slapped by a member of the Man O' War squad.

In a press statement released by the hall executives, led by Hall Chairman Olaore David Kolokolo and Chief Security Officer Samuel Akinkunmi Akinlade, the hall executives condemned the action of the Man O'War member, and was tagged as an unjust treatment and a recurring issue within the hall.

"While the act of passing excreta in the open space is unacceptable, the hall executives of Adekunle Fajuyi hall totally condemn the habit of assault by the members of the Man O'War club", the statement reads. "We warn every member of the hall to refrain from assaulting their fellow students. Great Ife is known for aluta against oppression, and such behavior is not acceptable."

The executives also acknowledged receiving numerous complaints from residents about the early morning drills conducted by the Man O'War club, further exacerbating tensions between the two groups.

As a result of the incident, the Man O'War Secretariat has been locked down, and the executives have vowed to ensure that the matter is adequately and effectively addressed. They also appealed to the hall's residents to use proper facilities for their personal hygiene needs.
