AXD Wins IFE Agric Green Clash Intrafaculty Debate And Oratory Performance
The Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development emerged victorious at the first edition of the IFE Agric Green Clash Intrafaculty Debate and Oratory Performance organized by the Nigerian Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS) at Obafemi Awolowo University on Friday, May 10th, 2024. The winning department received a cash prize of N50,000.
The event, meticulously planned by NAAS Public Relations Officer Aka Daniel and his team, aimed to foster unity among members while providing a platform to showcase their public speaking skills and intellectual prowess.
Aka Daniel emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating, "As outlined in our constitution, it is my responsibility to facilitate events that advance the principles of our association, cultivating a sense of unity and creating opportunities for members to excel."
The competition witnessed a remarkable display of academic excellence and collaborative spirit, as students from various agricultural departments engaged in thought-provoking debates and oratory performances.
Agboola Isaac from Part 5 and Giwa Asia from Part 2 represented the winning Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development.
The Department of Soil Science and Land Management Resources secured the second position, with Ayanrinde Oluwatobiloba Victoria from Part 4 and Sunmola Khadijat Olabisi from Part 3 as their representatives, winning a cash prize of N30,000.
The third position, along with a N20,000 cash prize, went to the Department of Family, Nutrition, and Consumer Sciences, represented by Idowu Oluwaseun Elijah and Agboola Naomi Mojoyinola, both from Part 1.
Aka Daniel expressed his delight at the event's success, stating, "The Ife Agric Green Clash Intrafaculty Debate and Oratory Performance 1.0 exceeded our expectations, leaving an indelible mark on NAAS history. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to unite Naasites once again in celebration of agricultural knowledge and discourse during the forthcoming 2.0 edition."
