AFCON: Super Eagles Edge Burundi National Football Team in Group B Opener as Senegal Win Comfortably

The Nigerian national team, The Super Eagles kickstarted their African Cup of Nations campaign on Saturday with a goal to nil narrow victory over the Swallows in battle from Burundi.
The Super Eagles' opponent, Burundi are making their maiden appearance at the Africa biggest showpiece. They proved to the Super Eagles that they are no pushovers in the tournament as substitute, Ighalo scored the only goal of the match.
Gernot Rohr's side, who are 89 places above Burundi in FIFA's world ranking, struggled for a large chunk of the game in their Group B opener at the Alexandria Stadium but managed to seal all three points in the 77th minute.
Super Substitute, Odion Ighalo, who was introduced for Paul Onuachu just four minutes earlier, nicely latched onto Ola Aina's swashbuckling back-heeled pass and coolly whipped the ball past Jonathan Nahimana.
Nigeria will hope to put in a vastly improved performance against Guinea on Wednesday, while the swallows in battle of Burundi face Madagascar, who earned a point against Guinea, a day later.
