The Dean of Division of Students' Affairs, Obafemi Awolowo University, ile-ife, Osun state, Prof Aransi, frowned at the public meeting called by the newly formed coalition of students' representatives.
It should be recalled that the coalition of faculties' representative and departmental executives organised a rally against the threat of cultist attack of which the school authorities through a circular warned students to decease from such gathering because it lacked their backing.
Also recall that OAU Kilonshele reported that the Coalition went ahead to hold the Anti-cultism rally on the proposed date without the backing of the institution authorities.
This News agency also reported the meeting summoned by the Dean of Division of Students' Affairs to have an interaction with the coalition of Faculty Representative and departmental executives. The meeting resulted in the proposed formation of a transition committee.
The said coalition of Faculty Representative and departmental executives in a statement released called on all students of the institution to gather for a public meeting which will serve as a platform to form other committees such as the security and welfare committee which will be used to aggregate the students' interest.
"It is in this light that the Coalition uses this medium to inform all and sundry that there will be a public meeting to discuss the formation of other committees such as security committee and welfare committees with the faculty and departmental leaderships to work alongside the transition committee which will be saddled with the responsibility of conducting union elections. The date, time and venue will communicated subsequently," a part of the statement reads.
Meanwhile, Dean of Division of Students' Affairs, Prof. Isiaka Aransi in a conversation with OAU KILONSHELE, confirmed that a meeting was held with the Executives of Faculties and Departmental Associations stating that they unanimously agreed to establish a caretaker committee that will serve as a channel between them and the students.
"We had a meeting with the Executives of Faculties and Departmental Associations last Friday. We agreed at the meeting to have two Representatives each from the Faculties in the University."
"Our intention was to constitute a Caretaker Committee to serve as Students Representatives that the University Management will be relating with," he said.
However, when reacting to the question as regards his support for the public meeting called by the students Representative coalition - it was gathered that he is not in agreement with the slated meeting, stating that the proposed meeting does not have his backing.
"I am not in support of any public meeting for any other purpose for now." He said.
