Students of Obafemi Awolowo University have kicked against the conduct of examinations that have been confirmed to start on Monday, 14th of January.
Votes were cast against conducting the examinations in this current manner in a congress organized by the action commitee on Thursday.
OAU Kilonshele gathered that over 100 students' signature were collected after a massive vote against the conduct of the examinations.
"Congress voted in favour of the extension of lecture weeks, for proper lecture hours, with over 100 students' signatures collated immediately." Stated in the action committee's report.
It should be recalled that this news agency reported how the management insisted on carrying on with examinations despite how some students have been grossly affected by the ASUU strike. Some departments are still having classes while some are writing tests in a "lecture-free week."
The school's spokesperson, Abiodun Olanrewaju, in a release sent to OAU KILONSHELE on Wednesday stated that the ASUU strike, for the first time in the history of the university, has not been effective.
The latest of the insistence was seen in a report released by the Registrar, Margaret Omosulr, reiteratingthat the examinations will hold as scheduled.
"Members of the university community should kindly note that contrary to rumours being peddled by some sources, the 2017/2018 rain semester examinations will hold as scheduled from Monday, 14th Jan 2019."
"Consequently, the university management will put everything in place to ensure a smooth conduct of the examinations."
However, ASUU has also urged students to boycott the examinations, describing it as null and void.
