OAU Denies Affiliation with Alleged 'Fraudulent Professor' via Circular

The Obafemi Awolowo University, ile-ife, Osun State, management has denied affiliation with the professor arraigned by the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for fraud through the office of the Public Relation Officer.
The 60-year old Jide-Oni was arraigned by the EFCC on Wednesday alongside 12 internet fraud suspects before a Federal High Court in Lagos for allegedly swindling his victims of several millions of naira through false pretence.
A part of the Press report reads;
"The attention of the authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, ile-ife, has been drawn to a news item in the social and conventional media about one Charles Jide -Oni, who was arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos for obtaining money under false pretence and other fraudulent activities by the Ibadan Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission. He was also alleged to have claimed to be a professor in our university."
According to the Press release by university, the Public Relations Officer of the Institution stated that "for the avoidance of doubt and to set the record straight, we make bold to say that, having gone through our staff list, data and other - keeping devices in our archives, we DO NOT HAVE ANY OF OUR PROFESSORS, RETIRED OR SERVING, DEAD OR LIVING WHO GOES BY THAT NAME"
The Press release further reads that the University do not have any thing to do with the self-acclaimed professor and implore the general public to totally disregard his claims.
"Accordingly, the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, does not have anything to do with the self-styled Professor and urge the general public to disregard, in its entirety, whatever claims he might have make in connection with our esteemed Institution of higher learning," the Press release reads.
According to the Press release, the Vice Chancellor also urge the public to be wary of people who may be using the name of the University for anything counterfeit. Making bold the zero tolerance of his administration for fraud and other related vices. He implored the public to always endeavour to check the veracity of any claim from the University.

How could it be possible for a professor in OAU to involve in such fraudulent activity.... Charles Jide Oni, I so much believe that is not your name but whatever your name may be I implore you not to tanish the institution name... May Jehovah forgive you.
