OAU Giants Draw Defending Champion in the First Leg of HIFL Semi-final Tie.

The OAU giants in their quest for glory played out a 1-1 draw against defending champions UAM Tillers in the semi- final first leg at the ongoing Higher Institution Footbal League (HIFL).
The match which held on Wednesday at the OAU sport complex kicked off with both teams in high spirits.
The Giants in the first-half had several chances to put themselves ahead but the resolute defending of the visitors ensured it was a stalemate.
At about 30 mins after the break, the giants in an intense attack got the ball into the net of the tillers through Olumofe Seyi (Drizzy), jersey number 8.
The Tillers, however, recovered from that setback in the dying minutes when skipper of the side Asen shater, cannoned a free kick in the giants net with few minutes left to level the scoreline.
Priscilla Vander, coach of the UAM team, in a conversation with Great Ife FM, noted that she was confident that they would win the game or draw and she is rest assured that the second leg would be better. The coach also made comments on the officiating as very fair.
Captain of the UAM Tillers, Asen shater, in an interview with great 94.5 fm correspondence, stated his delight on the draw and also noted that the OAU Giants was a force to reckon with in the football game.
Speaking with the home team, the OAU Giants captain, Adegoke toheeb, stated that it was a tough fight as they expected and they would also work on their shortcomings against the second leg.
Recall that UAM Tillers in the previous edition of the HIFL were the better of the 2 sides, overturning a 5-3 loss in Ife to win 3-0 at the UAM Tillers base to progress to the finals which they eventually won.
The second leg of the semi final tie is set to hold at University of Agriculture, Makurdi, in a fortnight.
