Students Criticise the Great IFE Partial Scholarship Scheme, Students' Union Financial Secretary debunks claims.

Abdulbasit Abdulkareem  The much-publicized Great IFE Partial Scholarship Scheme 1.0 at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has left many students disappointed and confused. Initially presented as significant financial relief for struggling students, the scholarship has been criticized as a political maneuver, with students receiving only ₦10,000 each. On May 14th, the Students Union, through the office of the Financial Secretary, announced the names of 39 selected candidates for the scholarship. These candidates, three from each faculty, were to benefit from an initiative partly funded by Enoch Hub, which covered 60% of the scheme's costs. The announcement was followed by an award ceremony held on May 15th at SUB TV Room where the beneficiaries were moved to Floor O and presented the recipients to the Vice-Chancellor. OAU Students Injured as Roof Collapses During Storm

A torrential rainstorm accompanied by whirlwind struck the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) campus early Thursday morning, causing the roof of the Amphitheater in Oduduwa Hall to collapse on students attending a lecture. The incident occurred during a SER001 class held in Amphitheater as severe weather slammed the area. The powerful storm winds tore off the ceiling cover, raining debris down on the students below. At least four students were injured and rushed to the OAU Medical and Health Centre for treatment.  The university's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, swiftly responded by joining other top officials at the health center to ensure the injured received adequate medical care. AXD Wins IFE Agric Green Clash Intrafaculty Debate And Oratory Performance

The winning department received a cash prize of N50,000. Abdulbasit Abdulkareem   Following the sealing of the Man O' War club secretariat by the Adekunle Fajuyi Hall of Residence executives over alleged assault, the club's leadership has issued a stern counter-release, denying the accusations and demanding justice. The incident, which occurred on the night of Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, sparked tensions within the university community after the hall executives alleged that a Fajuyian, was subjected to unjust treatment by members of the Man O' War club for attempting to pass excreta near their base. Fajuyians Lock Down Man O'War Secretariat Over Assault

Abdulbasit Abdulkareem  Tension escalated at the Adekunle Fajuyi Hall of Residence, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, following an alleged assault on a student by members of the Man O'War security corps. In response, the hall executives have taken the drastic measure of sealing off the Man O'War Secretariat until further notice. The incident occurred in the late hours of Thursday, May 2nd, when a student, whose identity has not been disclosed, was caught attempting to defecate in an open space near the Man O'War base. OAU Kilonshele gathered that the student was slapped by a member of the Man O' War squad.  In a press statement released by the hall executives, led by Hall Chairman Olaore David Kolokolo and Chief Security Officer Samuel Akinkunmi Akinlade, the hall executives condemned the action of the Man O'War member, and was tagged as an unjust treatment and a recurring issue within the hall.
