Habeeb Waliyu Rules of a language need to be learnt for effective usage of that particular language If we intend to use devout as an adjective before a word(noun), do we say "devoted Muslim/Christian or we say devout Muslim/Christian." The correct usage of 'devout' as an adjective that modifies a noun is devout Muslim/Christian Devout : This means believing strongly in a particular religion and obeying its laws and practices. E.g. i. A devout Catholic ii. A devout member of Muslim students society of Nigeria iii. They have a devout Muslim in their family. "Devout" can also be used as a devout hope or wish which means you feel very strongly about something. E.g It's my devout hope that we travel together in peace. The adverbial form of 'devout' is devoutly which means very strongly. E.g. 1. She devoutly hoped he was telling the truth. 2. A devoutly disciplined religion. We need to be grammatically inclined
