ACJOAU Announces 2nd Edition of Adejumo Kabir Essay Contest

The Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), has officially announced the second edition of the ACJOAU-Adejumo Kabir Essay Contest. This year’s competition tackles a critical issue in education: “Student Loan Scheme: A Solution to Persistent Underfunding in Tertiary Education or a Catalyst for Future Economic Strain?”
Prospective participants, who must be OAU students, must submit their essays, a word count of 1000-1200 alongside a scanned copy of their School ID Card or E-Portal page in separate PDF files to acjoau2015@gmail.com. The email’s subject line should be “ACJOAU-Adejumo Kabir Essay Contest.”

The contest offers cash prizes as follows:
- First Position: N30,000
- Second Position: N20,000
- Third Position: N10,000
Finalists will be selected and announced after the deadline. Prizes for the top 3 entries will be awarded at the 2024 International Campus Journalism Conference which is expected to hold in the first week of May.

Ajao Oluwatimilehin was the winner at the maiden edition of the contest, with Alimi Azeez coming in as the first runner-up. Notably, medical students have consistently excelled in past edition of the competition, demonstrating their academic excellence and significant contributions to the event.
