The Dean, Division of Students' Affairs of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, Prof Isiaka Aransi has assured that the recent security measures in the institution are not aimed against any security threat.
There have been a notable improvement in the security of the institution recently - an improvement similar to what was witnessed towards July 1, the date an anonymous release threatened to invade the institution campus to avenge the treatment of alleged cultists that were caught on the campus in May during a performance by Zlatan Ibile.
The ID check at the campus gate of the institution that was first carried out towards July 1 has been re-introduced and followed strictly since the start of the week. The warden of Angola hall of residence also recently publicised a release informing all occupants that the hall gate will be locked by 2am and re-opened by 5am.
However, in a conversation with OAU Kilonshele, Prof Isiaka Aransi reiterated that the measures are not aimed at fighting security threat neither did he talk about any sensitive security update that the university is not willing to reveal. When asked if there is any sensitive information that the institution is not willing to reveal, he said "there is no cause for alarm. Everything is fine."
Meanwhile, the recent directive released by the Angola hall warden is unusual. Students of the institutions are currently preparing to write the 2018/2019 1st semester examination.
