OAU WORKERS' UNIONS' LEADERS SPEAK ON STUDENTS ARREST.

Following the arrest and the arraignment of 5 students of Obafemi Awolowo University, as reported by this News Outfit, leaders of the non-academic and academic staff unions spoke with OAUKILONSHELE ,
Comrade Wole Odewumi, the. Chairman of NASU, Non Academic Staff Union, in the school, said he got the information yesterday and have had meetings with some of the representatives of students involved.
The chairman, who was also docked two weeks ago, also stated that the union has started an appeal on behalf of the arraigned students, whose bail has not been granted up till the time of filing this report. OAUKILONSHELE reported the bail conditions.
"The only we can do is to appeal and we've commenced that." He said.
Anon, the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Ademola Oketunde revealed that he's yet to be done with investigations on the issue. He promised that the union will act after his investigations.
However, Henry Oripeloye, the. Secretary of Congress of University Academics (CONUA) OAU, claimed that he got the news of the arrested students today.
According to him, 'the union's stance will be made known when he is back on campus on later next week'.
Gbenga Oloniran, a 400 level student of Geography; Olajide Ademola, a 500 level student of Electrical Electronics; Oyedeji Samson, 300 level student of Pharmacy; Jimoh Oladipupo, 300 level student of Biochemistry and Adeniji John, 300 level student of Electrical Electronics are in Kosere Prison Ile-Ife as a result of allegations levelled against them by the school management.
They were charged for alleged assault and harassment of hostel officers during the process of sending students out of Moremi hall of residence.
