JAC (SSANU, NAAT NASU) RESUMES SUSPENDED STRIKE BY MONDAY.

In a crucial meeting of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) made up of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) held in Abuja, it was agreed upon that universities will begin an indefinite strike on Monday, December 4, 2017
This is to protest against the sharing formula of the N23billion released by the Federal Government to settle their Earned allowances as Universities like Obafemi Awolowo University and University of Ibadan have spontaneously reacted to.
The decision was as a result of the elapsed deadline of Seven days given to the Federal Government to explain what brought about the skewed ratio. In the formula adopted by the federal government, the non academic staffs were allocated 11 per cent of the N23billion as against 89 per cent for academic staff in the universities.
The joint letter signed by three Presidents of the Non-academic staff unions :SSANU, Samson Uwoke, NAAT, Sani Suleiman and NASU, Chris Ani, urged members to resume the suspended indefinite strike as from 12midnight, Sunday, December 3.
It can be recalled that JAC suspended the 11 days strike on the struggle against the failure of the FG to fulfil the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with all staff unions in 2009.
In a conversation with Wole Odewumi, the chairman of NASU branch of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife , he said all questions about OAU joining the strike or not can't be answered until the Congress of the unions on Monday.
"I can't answer those questions now but by Monday." he said.
