CLASH BETWEEN OAU GALLERIANS AND PARLIAMENTARIAN OVER BUDGET SITTING




   It was a tug of war between parliamentarians and the members of the gallery of Obafemi Awolowo University at the parliamentary sitting which commenced an hour and thirty minutes beyond schedule on Friday 20th of October, at   Awolowo hall Cafè of the university. The sitting began with 36 honorables in attendance.

  At its commencement, the speaker of the house asked that the suspension of the quorum be moved; which Hon. yomi jenko from faculty of Education raised the motion rolling and seconded by Alpha T from Health sciences.

   The clerk of the house proceeded in reading the agenda of the sitting, after which Comrade Joe from the faculty of Education raised an observation that last submission at the parliamentary sitting wasn't implemented, citing the example of the victimized student and the call for Congress. He also submitted that the state of the Union should be included in the agenda, similar observations was raised by Hon. Babatunde (Baba T).
 
   The motion for the amendment of the agenda was moved by Hon Baba T from faculty of Arts and seconded by Hon shiffoe; after which Hon. Temmy T moved the motion for the adoption of the agenda and was seconded by Hon. babalola Adeola.

   As the sitting progressed, arguments ensued as members of the Parliament detest absence of the CEC, which was mandated at the last sitting. Hon Arisrotle submitted clearly that students are being victimized and no solution is proffered to it, so also that CEC are not on sit to defend the budget placed before the house, as such the sitting should be adjorned.
   "Since an ordinary sitting be adjorned why can't budget sitting be?" Arisrotle stated.

The financial secretary, omisakin, in defence of the absence of other members of the CEC, he stated that it was due to the bonfire holding also that same evening.
" Their absence is for the sake of the Union"  he explained.

In reaction to this, the argument got intense and not only between gallerians and parliamentarians but between parliamentry members themselves, which led to a 15 minutes recess.

   On their resumption, the house had to vote on the two submission on ground that budget sitting be deferred till next week and state of Union be discussed now, and that the whole sitting should be deferred till the next day.

    Finally, the house resolved that the sitting be deferred till next day after having 33 members in favour and ordered that the financial secretary should disburse money for the  purchase of a new Public address system, belonging to faculty of technology, which was stolen at a parliamentry sitting.
