Water Scarcity: We Are Digging Two New Boreholes In Each Halls Of Residence- Dean DSA

The water scarcity being experienced currently in the university community and the recent surface of a snake caught at Mozambique Hall drainage has made the hall executive council troop out in peaceful protest to the Division Of Students' Affairs building in the early hours of Tuesday.


The demonstration scene began with the gyration of aluta chorus in the frontal view of the Dean of Students' Affairs office, Prof. Isiaka Aransi, as gathered and witnessed by OAU KILONSHELE correspondent who later made efforts to address the protesting students(HEC).


Angola hall chairman, Timileyin Samuel questioned the management's silence after a public notice was disbursed to the university community informing them of the "mechanical fault" with the pumping machine at the dam assuring them of swift action and solution before dusk which later yielded futility as they were thrown into worrisome after 48 hours of the release. The Dean, Prof. Isiaka Aransi in his response said, the repair was made but got damaged shortly after the amendment.


The Dean while engaging the students also strive effort to know the current status of boreholes in the halls of residence, stated that the university management in a meeting held on Monday (yesterday) as regards the water issue has decided that two boreholes are to be provided in every hall of residence. 

"We took a bold decision that any moment from now, aside from the water that comes from the dam. We want to ensure that we have two additional boreholes in each of the halls of residence. It will be a borehole that will yield water in commercial quantity" The Dean said.

He further expressed displeasure at the hardship students are undergoing in their various halls of residence and claims to take pragmatic actions citing the case of the reptile's invasion at the Mozambique hall of residence.
