ACJ OAU Inducts New Members In A Knowledge-filled Event

The event which commenced by 10:30am was attended by stakeholders, members and the inductees. The event took place in the Faculty of Administration's post-graduate lecture room.
The inductee were put through the fundamentals and ethics of Journalism by experienced speakers. Adejumo Kabir- a renowned multiple award winning journalist, Ismail Taiwo - media practitioner, publisher of Oduduwa News, and Wasiu Ajadosu- Chairman NUJ Osun State chapter represented by the chapter's secretary - Nikola Elufadejin, all brimmed the new members.
Adejumo Kabir- an alumnus of the association and OAU shared with inductees his experiences and challenges as student journalist. He furthered in the interactive session by making reference to George Orwell's definition of Journalism "Journalism is printing what someone else does not want published; everything else is public relations."
He charged them to uphold the ethics of journalism, be a nonpartisan of school union and politics in order to maintain their firm stand in campus journalism.

Olukorede Yishau, an associate editor of The Nation Newspaper, who could not make it to the event physically delivered through electronic means. congratulated the newly inducted members and welcomed them into what he described as "the best profession" and wished them good luck.
In the closing remarks of the ACJ-OAU president, Titilayo Babatunde Dayo, he urged the news members to be actively involved in the activities of campus journalism especially now that the students' union is back into the university setting.
