Mozambique Hall Management Reverses Nighttime Locking Policy

Obayemi Oluwatomisin In a move that has brought an end to a prolonged period of inconvenience and risk to the safety and well-being of the female students at the Mozambique Hall of Residence, the authorities have reversed the nighttime locking policy at the hall. Prior to the reversal, the residents of the Hall had repeatedly expressed concerns and complaints regarding the sudden and unannounced locking of the door. This policy forced many students to seek alternatives and often uncomfortable accommodations, such as sleeping in lecture theatres and other unconventional locations, despite having assigned bedspace within the university premises. The locking policy blatantly disregarded the students' right to safety, leaving them vulnerable and locked out of their residences. OAU Students Struggle with POS Cash Withdrawal Limits

 Benjamin Oluwakasayo Emmanuel Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) students are grappling with a severe cash shortage that is disrupting their daily financial activities, with Point of Service (POS) attendants imposing strict withdrawal limits. A Part 2 Sociology student revealed the extent of the financial challenges. "I needed to withdraw ₦5,000 for travel to Ibadan, but POS operators at the Student Union Building (SUB) would only allow ₦3,000," he explained. To complete his withdrawal, he was forced to use multiple POS stands, splitting his transaction between two different points. Another first-year student expressed frustration at being unable to withdraw funds to purchase his SER manual due to the cash restrictions. Similarly, a female student lamented that the ₦3,000 withdrawal limit prevented her from purchasing necessary foodstuffs, stating the amount was insufficient for her market needs. Water Scarcity Cripples Students' Daily Preparations at OAU's ETF Hall

 Benjamin Oluwakasayo Emmanuel ETF residents at New Market  Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) students residing in ETF Hall experienced a critical water supply shortage early today, forcing many to leave their residence in search of water for daily preparations. Multiple students from different academic departments were severely impacted by the water shortage. A Department of Economics student said he missed his first lecture while seeking water. "I was supposed to be in class, but the water shortage forced me to look for alternative water sources," he explained. Another Economics Part 2 student also said that he missed his 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. class due to difficulties in fetching water at the market.  Similarly, a Part 4 civil engineering student missed his 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. lecture and stated that he might need to purchase bottled water for cooking if the situation does not improve by afternoon.
