Ọmọlúàbí Night: OAU Kilonshele, reporters clinch four awards

OAU Kilonshele clinched the best News Agency (Online Category) at the Ọmọlúàbí dinner, handover, and awards ceremony night of the Association of Campus Journalists' (ACJOAU). 

The atmosphere was filled with anticipation as members gathered to witness the transition of leadership and celebrate the accomplishments of the outgoing team. The electrifying night was a mix of emotion and empathic disposition by the erstwhile Gbolahan Latinwo, who served as the 51st President of the association 2022/2023 handed over to the newly elected President of the association, Olabode Obafemi, who will serve as the 52nd substantive President of the association along with his team cum next session.

Latinwo, in his endearing speech, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the executive team for their dedication and hard work throughout his tenure. He highlighted the tireless efforts of each team member and commended them for their unwavering support. Latinwo's words resonated with appreciation and admiration for the collaborative spirit that defined his leadership. 
 
The acknowledgment of his team's contributions underscored the importance of teamwork in achieving the association's goals. Further, the erstwhile President, in recognition of indefatigable efforts, lauds the like of Adesina Ayomide, the Chairman, Guild of Editors, Guild of Editors, 2022/2023, who, being fueled by enthusiastic instinct, would encourage that news be published without minding the critiques from the university community and Awotunde Theophilus General Secretary 2022/2023 for his untiring and dedicated support in easing and making herculean tasks easier with his shrewd approach.

Lastly, in what can be termed a penchant and doting feeling, the erstwhile President, in a heartfelt remark, graciously appreciated the  erstwhile Vice President, Olufajo Iseoluwa for her supportive instinct and seeing the association as her property.

Shortly after Gbolahan's remark as the erstwhile president, newly elected members took oaths of office, symbolizing a new chapter in the association's journey. Olabode Oluwafemi, the new President, exuded confidence and optimism as he shared his aspirations for the future. Oluwafemi, regurgitating the past, reflected on his journey to becoming a journalist and emphasized the significance of realizing his childhood dream. 

 Oluwafemi highlighted the importance of collective effort in driving progress and innovation. He, however, appeal to members to give him and other members if the executive all the support needed in stirring a new course. “Your respective support is all the association demands and I want to use this medium to appeal to our consciousness to see this association as our property and as such work cohesively and concertedly towards uplifting it beyond what it is now”. Oluwafemi appeals.


 Members of the OAU Kilonshele News Agency who won awards together with the News Agency which won the Best News Agency (Online category) are Adeniran Tolulope who won the best Article/Editorial Writer category, while Abdulbasit Abdulkareem and Edun Precious won the best news (story) and the health reporter category respectively.

Furthermore, Adesina Ayomide won the Best Editor. Ogunlana Klistivivi won the best campus journalist for education and investigative journalism. While Oguntade Adedoyin won the best male journalist and overall best journalist. Also, NCB won the best news agency (board), among others. 

Additionally, members of the association were given certificate of excellence for their respective participstion during the Great IFE Students Union Election  and ICJC conference which was held earlier this year.
